About the player
Léo Besson came through Servette FC's goalkeeper academy after starting out in French amateur football, first at Andernos Sport, where he played from the age of five to fifteen, and then at Lège before moving into Servette's structure. He was promoted to Servette's first-team set-up for the 2021/2022 season, though his development continued largely with the club's U21 side.
The 2022/2023 season marked a turning point: playing for Servette's U21 team in the Swiss 1. Liga Classic, he was named the division's best goalkeeper. The award preceded his first professional contract, signed on 8 April 2023, which tied him to Servette until 2026. He spent the 2023/2024 campaign with the U21 side in the Promotion League, the third tier of Swiss football.
In June 2025, Servette sent him out on loan to FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy for the 2025/2026 season, giving him a route into senior football in the Challenge League, one level below the Swiss top flight.
Besson holds dual Kosovan and Swiss nationality and has chosen to represent Kosovo internationally. He has earned seven caps for the Kosovo U21 side, featuring in UEFA U21 European Championship qualifiers in both 2023 and 2025.
