About the player
Two of Makan Aïko's three goals for Fortuna Sittard came in a single game: he came off the bench against Telstar in September 2025 and scored twice. His first goal for the club had come more than a year earlier, on his debut against Go Ahead Eagles on 11 August 2024.
Fortuna was his second club. He had joined the Le Mans FC academy in 2014 and made his senior debut in January 2021. He then became a regular in the Championnat National, scoring seven goals in 55 league appearances. In April 2024 he was shortlisted for the league's Revelation of the Season award.
His contract at Le Mans expired, and in the summer of 2024 he moved to the Dutch Eredivisie on a free transfer. He signed a two-year deal with an option for a third. He made 35 appearances for Fortuna Sittard and scored three goals.
In January 2026 he ended his contract with Fortuna early and signed for Tondela in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, again on a free transfer. That deal ran until June 2028. He made 18 appearances for the club, and his first goal came on 11 May 2026 in a 2–0 win over Moreirense.
In July 2026 he left Portugal for Poland, signing a two-year contract with Motor Lublin of the Ekstraklasa.
