About the player
Mateo Flores joined Real Betis' youth ranks in 2015, at the age of eleven, before a loan at Calavera CF in the 2021–22 season. He made his debut for Real Betis B on 9 April 2023 and went on to make 54 league appearances for the side, prompting the club to renew his contract to 2025 that August.
His first-team break came on 19 October 2024, when he made his La Liga debut against CA Osasuna. Flores went on to make six league appearances and seventeen in all competitions for the Betis first team that season, a campaign in which the club reached the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League before losing to Chelsea. He is recorded as a runner-up in that competition.
The following summer, on 26 July 2025, Flores moved to FC Arouca on a one-year loan. He made twelve appearances in the Primeira Liga during the 2025–26 season. The move became permanent on 19 June 2026, when Arouca triggered his buyout clause; the Portuguese club then signed him to a three-year contract until 2029. Foot Mercato reported the transfer fee at €1.4 million.
Flores has represented Spain at youth level, though he has yet to earn a senior international cap.
