Mads Andersen

Mads Andersen scored Luton Town's first Premier League home goal, against West Ham United on 1 September 2023. It came weeks after he joined the club from Barnsley for a fee reported at about £3m, a club record at the time.

His route to that point ran through Denmark's lower tiers. He signed his first professional contract at Brøndby in late 2015 but did not play a league game for them. A loan at HB Køge in 2016–17 gave him his first regular football: 25 appearances and two goals. In September 2017 he moved to AC Horsens, where over two seasons he made 28 league appearances and scored four goals.

Barnsley was where he established himself. He joined in June 2019 for a reported £900,000 and went on to make 146 league appearances, scoring three goals, and became club captain. His last season there, 2022–23, brought the club's Player of the Season award, a place in the EFL League One Team of the Season and a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

Luton signed him that July, and the Premier League goal against West Ham followed within weeks. In the 2025–26 season he won the EFL Trophy with the club.

At international level he has represented Denmark only at under-19 level, winning two caps between 2015 and 2016. He was called up to the senior squad in August 2023 but has not made his debut.
