Marlon Jonathan de Jesús Pabón

Marlon de Jesús has worn a lot of shirts since El Nacional gave him his professional debut in 2007, having come through the club's ranks after starting out at Club Valle del Chota. The forward, born in Ibarra, moved on to Deportivo Quito and had a spell at Maccabi Haifa before a run at Emelec led to a €1.0 million move to Club de Fútbol Monterrey in December 2013.

Loan spells took him to Puebla, Cúcuta Deportivo and F.C. Arouca, the last of those confirmed by the Portuguese club as an "empréstimo" rather than a permanent deal, despite some transfer records suggesting otherwise. He returned to Emelec in 2017 before a run through Asian football with Bucheon FC 1995 in South Korea, Al-Jabalain in Saudi Arabia and a loan at Nongbua Pitchaya in Thailand, interspersed with a stint back in Ecuador at El Nacional and a season at Deportivo Binacional in Peru.

De Jesús earned five caps for Ecuador between 2010 and 2013, though he did not find the net for the national side. His later career has taken him further into Peruvian football, first with Unión Comercio and now at UTC, where he has built a scoring record substantial enough to make him the club's third-highest all-time scorer, with 67 goals to his name. He was also pre-selected for the SAFAP Best XI in 2021.
