Massir Silla

Massiré Sylla's route to Belgium's top flight ran through three countries in barely two years. Born in Dakar, the defender came up through the Diambars academy in Senegal before moving to France in March 2024, joining Pau FC on a free transfer. His time there was brief and largely spent with the reserves, making seven appearances for Pau II without featuring for the Ligue 2 side.

The move that changed things came that September, when Sylla signed for Norwegian club Lyn 1896. It was there that he established himself, making 27 appearances in the OBOS-ligaen and five more in the cup. His performances were recognised at the end of the 2025 season, when he was named the division's Best Young Player of the Year, having already picked up the Young Player of the Month award in September.

That form in Norway prompted Union Saint-Gilloise to move for him in January 2026, paying a reported fee in the region of €1.5 million and tying Sylla to a contract until 2030 — a long-term commitment. Since arriving in Belgium, he has made six league appearances for the club, and was part of the squad that won the Coupe de Belgique in the 2025–2026 season.

At 1.96m, Sylla offers Union a physical presence at the back, playing on his right foot. He has not yet featured for Senegal's senior national team.
