About the player
Mikhail Shchetinin came through Lokomotiv Moscow's academy after joining in 2019, having first made his name at Avangard Kursk, where he won the Children's Football League title in 2015 and was named the best player of the 2017 DFL Open Championship. He made his professional debut for Lokomotiv's first team in the Russian Cup in November 2022 and followed it with a Russian Premier League appearance the following March.
Shchetinin spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Fakel Voronezh, making 18 appearances across the league and Cup before returning to Lokomotiv. In July 2025, the club sold him to the Belarusian side Arsenal Dzerzhinsk in a permanent deal that included a buy-back option. He returned to Lokomotiv Moscow in the winter window of January 2026.
Shchetinin has also built a record with Russia's youth sides, captaining the under-17s during three caps in 2022 and later the under-21s, for whom he made seven appearances between 2023 and 2025. He added four caps for the under-18s in 2022. He has yet to feature for the senior national team.
