About the player
Zelimkhan Bakaev came through the Spartak Moscow academy and made his first-team debut there in 2015, spending the best part of a decade at the club with a season out on loan at Arsenal Tula along the way. He left Spartak with a Russian Cup winner's medal from 2021–22 and a Super Cup from 2017 already to his name.
Zenit also sent him abroad, on loan to Al-Wahda in Abu Dhabi, where he added a UAE League Cup to his collection, and later to Khimki for the 2024–25 season. When his Zenit contract ran out, he signed for Lokomotiv Moscow as a free agent in June 2025.
At international level, Bakaev has been capped 16 times by Russia and has scored twice, including in a friendly against Grenada and during qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. He was involved in the qualifying campaign for Euro 2020 but did not make the final squad for the tournament itself.
