Norman Jaquy Bassette Van Acker

Norman Bassette began at Stade Malherbe Caen, signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2021 after a recruitment process that started with trials the year before. He made 14 senior appearances for the French club, scoring once, before being loaned to K.V. Mechelen in Belgium for the 2023-24 season, where he found a sharper scoring touch with five goals in 22 league appearances.

That form prompted Coventry City to sign him permanently in August 2024, in a deal reported at around €2.7 million plus a future sale percentage. He immediately moved on again, this time to 1. FC Kaiserslautern, where he has scored twice in 16 2. Bundesliga appearances.

Bassette has represented Belgium at every youth level from U18 to U21, scoring six goals in ten U21 caps. He made his senior international debut on 17 November 2024, coming on as a substitute in a UEFA Nations League match against Israel. At youth level with Caen, he was a runner-up in the Coupe Gambardella. His path through youth football took in Espérance Rossignol, Royal Excelsior Virton, Sporting Charleroi, Entente Bertrigeoise and KAS Eupen before he signed with Caen.
