Nando Verdoni

Nando Verdoni did not start out as a goalkeeper. He came through the youth ranks at VV Erica '76 and VV Dieren as a striker, later moving to right-back, and it was only in 2019, in the B1 side at Dieren, that his coach Jhon van Beukering suggested trying him in goal during training. The switch stuck: he was registered as a goalkeeper for the following season and joined the Go Ahead Eagles academy that summer, working his way up through the Under-18 and Under-21 sides.

His first-team involvement began in January 2022, when he took a place on the bench as third-choice goalkeeper, and he signed his first professional contract in April 2023. Born in Arnhem, he stands 189 cm tall and plays right-footed.

The highlight of his career so far came with Go Ahead Eagles' run to the 2024–25 KNVB Cup. Verdoni was named as substitute goalkeeper, wearing number 33, in the final against AZ Alkmaar, which finished 1–1 after normal time before Go Ahead Eagles won 4–2 on penalties. He is also listed among the winners of a Netherlands Under-19 club cup competition. He has not been capped by the Netherlands at any level, though an interview in 2024 touched on his Italian roots and his openness to representing Italy internationally.
