Ollie Tanner

The move collapsed when he refused personal terms. Cardiff City signed him that June instead, for a reported £50,000, on a two-year contract.

Tanner had come through the academies of Charlton Athletic and Arsenal before joining Bromley's academy in 2015. He made his senior debut for Bromley in November 2019 and signed his first professional contract in October 2020, while also dual-registered with Folkestone Invicta. Bromley released him at the end of that 2020–21 season, and he joined Lewes on a free transfer.

Lewes was where he made his name. In 2021–22 he won both the Supporters' Player of the Season and the Goal of the Season awards.

At Cardiff he made his debut in the EFL Cup against Portsmouth on 9 August 2022. A loan spell at York City followed in January 2023. His league debut came on 12 August 2023 against Queens Park Rangers, and his first professional goal on 16 September 2023 in a 2–0 win over Swansea City.

Cardiff have since kept extending his stay. He signed a three-year extension in October 2024 and a new four-year deal on 5 August 2025, which runs until the summer of 2029. Shortly after signing it he broke his fibula and damaged ligaments in late August 2025, an injury that ruled him out for four months. He has made more than 110 appearances for the club, 101 of them in the league.

He has not been capped by any England youth side.
