Ruel Dimitrios Sotiriou

Ruel Sotiriou made his mark at Leyton Orient long before his move to Chesterfield. On loan at Dover Athletic in November 2019, he came off the bench and needed just three minutes to score the winner that knocked League One side Southend United out of the FA Cup.

He had loan spells at Heybridge Swifts, Leatherhead, Bishop's Stortford, Chelmsford City and Hampton & Richmond Borough before returning to the Leyton Orient side. He was named EFL League Two Player of the Month in March 2022 after scoring six goals in eight matches, and was part of the squad that won the League Two title in 2022–23. The following season he finished as the club's top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions as Orient finished 11th.

A free transfer took him to Bristol Rovers in June 2024. He became the club's joint-top league scorer in 2024–25 with five goals, level with Chris Martin, and that spring earned a call-up to the Cyprus squad for 2026 World Cup qualifying, an absence that came during a tight relegation fight against Crawley Town. His stay at Bristol Rovers turned sour by November 2025, when manager Darrell Clarke left him out of the squad following criticism of his training intensity after a defeat to Cheltenham Town.

Sotiriou moved on to Hapoel Jerusalem in January 2026 before joining Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee in July 2026. Internationally, he has represented Cyprus at Under-19 and Under-21 level, scoring three goals in eight U21 appearances, and made his senior debut against Latvia in March 2024.
