Rhys Bennett

Rhys Bennett captained Manchester United's under-18s to the FA Youth Cup in 2021–22, scoring in the 3–1 final win over Nottingham Forest's youngsters. He had joined the club's academy as a ten-year-old. A first professional contract followed in 2022, renewed the following July, and in December 2023 he was named in United's first-team squad for a match, though the appearance itself never came.

The step up to senior football came through loan spells away from Old Trafford. A six-month move to Stockport County in January 2024 brought a single league appearance, away to Tranmere Rovers. A more substantial test followed in August 2024, when he joined Fleetwood Town on a season-long loan. He established himself in the Fleetwood side, making 35 League Two appearances in 2024–25, scoring once and adding an assist, with further outings in the EFL Cup, where he also scored, and the EFL Trophy.

That loan spell persuaded Fleetwood to make the move permanent. On 31 January 2026, Bennett signed for the club on a two-and-a-half-year deal. He has not represented England at any level.

Away from the pitch, Bennett spoke publicly in October 2025 about his father's suicide, aiming to raise awareness of mental health issues.
