About the player
Rob Tankiewicz held Cardiff City's record as the club's youngest first-team player for a few minutes. He started the EFL Trophy tie at Newport County on 7 October 2025 aged 16 years and 114 days. Later in the same match, teammate Axel Donczew took the record from him. Cardiff lost 1–0.
Tankiewicz was born in Cardiff and had been at the club since 2017, when he joined the academy as an under-9. He moved up through the age groups and played for both the under-18 and under-21 sides. He signed his first professional contract in October 2025, the month he was handed his senior debut.
His second first-team appearance came on 25 August 2026, when he came off the bench against Norwich City in the EFL Cup. He wears 33 for the senior squad and plays in midfield.
He has also progressed steadily through the Wales youth teams. He won eight caps at under-15 level and scored once. He added six caps at under-16 and seven at under-17. He has played twice for the under-19s and once for the under-20s.
