Roman Volochay

Roman Volochay came through the Akron academy named after Yuri Konoplev, working his way up through the club's youth sides rather than arriving from elsewhere. He started with the under-15s, moved on to the under-16s the same year, and then spent more than a year with the under-17s. In 2025 he captained the under-18 side, and in January 2026 he was promoted to Akron-2 Tolyatti, the reserve team playing in the Second League.

That promotion was followed quickly by inclusion in the senior Akron squad for the 2026/2027 season. He has not yet made his senior competitive debut, but he has already sat on the bench as an unused substitute against Zenit and Lokomotiv, giving him a taste of matchday involvement with the first team even before featuring on the pitch.

Volochay is a right-footed goalkeeper, born in Tolyatti, the city his club represents. His path has been entirely internal to Akron, with every step of his progress coming through promotion rather than transfer.
