Stefán Ingi Sigurðarson

Kópavogur produced Stefán Ingi Sigurðarson, though his path to professional football ran through Luxembourg, where he trained as a youngster at Racing before returning to Iceland to join Breiðablik's academy. While building his senior career there from 2019, he also played college soccer for Boston College Eagles in the United States, splitting his development between two continents. Breiðablik sent him out on a string of loans — to Augnablik, Grindavík, ÍBV and HK — and it was at HK, in the second tier, that he made his mark: 16 goals in 15 appearances in 2022, a return that helped fire the club to promotion. He missed out on Breiðablik's Besta deildin title that same year but won the Icelandic Super Cup with the club in 2023.

A move to Belgium's Patro Eisden followed, before Sandefjord brought him to Norway in 2024. It was in the Eliteserien that Sigurðarson turned into a genuine goal threat: 15 goals and an assist in the 2025 season left him third in the scoring charts, behind only Daniel Karlsbakk and Kasper Høgh, and he would have topped the list outright had penalties been stripped out. He set a string of club records along the way, including a hat-trick away to Kristiansund, the most braces scored by a Sandefjord player and the most first-half goals, adding a goal inside the opening minute against Strømsgodset for good measure.

That form earned him a move to Go Ahead Eagles in February 2026, in a transfer reported at a club-record fee for the Dutch side. He has signed a contract running to the middle of 2030, standing 194cm tall.
