Timothé Cognat

Timothé Cognat worked his way through Lyon's reserve side in the Championnat National 2 between 2015 and 2019, making 46 appearances and scoring 9 goals, but the breakthrough to the first team never came. Instead, it was a loan spell in Switzerland that changed the course of his career. Sent to Servette FC for the 2018–19 season, the midfielder made 35 league appearances in the Challenge League, scored twice, and helped the club win the division. Lyon let him go permanently that summer, for a fee of around €70,000.

At Servette, Cognat was named the club's Player of the Month in August during the 2021–22 season. His standing at the club culminated in the 2023–24 season, when Servette reached the Swiss Cup final against FC Lugano at the Wankdorf Stadium in Bern. Cognat started the match, which finished goalless after extra time, and was substituted in the 118th minute shortly before Servette won the shoot-out 9-8.

Cognat's representative career was built entirely at youth level for France, taking in the U16, U17, U18 and U19 age groups. He has not been capped by the senior national team.
