About the player
Thomas Castella was signed as a free agent from the Neuchâtel Xamax academy in June 2012. He spent 2012 to 2014 with the club's reserve side, Team Vaud, before finally making his senior debut on 24 July 2016, against Grasshopper.
He kept 14 clean sheets in 30 league games during the 2015–16 campaign as Lausanne-Sport won the Challenge League title and stepped back up to the Super League. Blick named him the best goalkeeper in the Swiss Super League for 2016–17.
He has stayed with Lausanne-Sport ever since, without a single loan spell or move away from the club.
His international experience is limited to a single cap for Switzerland's under-19 side; he has not been capped by the senior national team. At club level, though, Lausanne-Sport has committed to him long-term, extending his contract in January 2023 through to June 2028.
