Thomas Philip Hamer

Tom Hamer was part of the Lincoln City squad that won the EFL League One title in 2025–26, taking the club back to the Championship for the first time in 65 years. He made 44 league appearances that season, and in March 2026 his contract was extended until the summer of 2029.

Lincoln had signed him on 19 July 2024 on a three-year deal, after three seasons at Burton Albion. Burton had bought him from Oldham Athletic in January 2021 for an undisclosed fee.

Oldham was where he learned the game. Hamer joined the club's youth system in 2015 after playing for Radcliffe Town Juniors, made his first-team debut in January 2018 and signed his first professional contract that April. Later that month, on 24 April 2018, Oldham named him Man of the Match in a 3–0 defeat to Southend United.

One feature of his play was noticed early: the long throw-in. At Oldham it contributed to goals, among them one in a draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Born in Bolton, he is right-footed and has spent his career in defence, first in the lower reaches of the Football League with Oldham and Burton, and now with a Lincoln side that has moved up a division.
