About the player
Tiernan Brooks made his professional debut for Notts County on 4 March 2023 against Bromley — and saved a penalty in that first appearance. He was part of the Notts County squad that won promotion from the National League to League Two that same season.
Sheffield-born, Brooks came through the Sheffield Wednesday youth ranks before moving on to Notts County, where he signed his first professional contract. What followed was a string of loans that took him well outside the professional game before he ever established himself in it: Lincoln United, Worksop Town, Coalville Town and Hednesford Town in non-league football, followed by spells at Boston United, Cork City and Rochdale.
He holds dual English and Irish citizenship and has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, winning five caps. In July 2024 he joined Gateshead on a two-year deal, and it was from there that Charlton Athletic signed him in January 2026, on a two-and-a-half-year contract with a further year in the club's favour.
