Tom Pettersson

The club won the Allsvenskan in 2025, and the title was settled on 20 October with a 2–0 win over IFK Göteborg, a match in which Pettersson scored. In the 2025–26 Svenska Cupen, Mjällby beat Hammarby IF 2–1 in the final on 14 May 2026. The squad was also nominated for Årets Lag at the Swedish Sports Gala, a nomination described as historic for a team whose honours are all domestic.

He arrived at Mjällby in January 2023 as a free agent on a one-year contract, later extended to 2027, and has since played more than 70 competitive matches for the club.

Pettersson came up through Trollhättans FK and then FC Trollhättan, where he spent four seasons, played 101 league games and scored six goals. In 2008 the club won Division 1 Södra. In November 2011 he moved to Åtvidabergs FF, and in the 2013–14 season he was loaned to Oud-Heverlee Leuven in Belgium, where he made 17 league appearances and scored once.

Cup football followed him through Sweden. He won the Svenska Cupen with IFK Göteborg in 2014–15, after signing for the club in October 2014, and again with Östersunds FK in 2016–17. At Östersund he played 76 league matches and scored three goals before leaving in 2019.

Abroad, he joined FC Cincinnati as a free agent in December 2019. He made 20 appearances in all competitions and left by mutual agreement in July 2021. A month later he signed for Lillestrøm SK in Norway, where he scored six times in 33 league games across the 2021 and 2022 seasons before returning to Sweden.
