Larnaca has two clubs that trace their roots elsewhere. The club that carries the village's name has not played there since. The Lysiotes nickname — the old demonym for the people of Lysi — has stayed attached to a side that has not set foot in the place it names since the invasion.

The club, known in full as Athlitikos Syllogos Ischys Lysis, was founded on 26 June 1932. It has spent most of its life in the lower reaches of Cypriot football: two Second Division titles, in 1966–67 and 1973–74, and a Third Division title in 2000–01. More recent success has come in a competition built for clubs like it — the Cypriot Cup for Lower Divisions, won in 2022–23 with a 2–1 final victory over Digenis Morphou.

Emilios Tekkis took charge for the 2024–25 season. What the club has never managed, in over ninety years, is a season in Cyprus's top division.
