The Stade Municipal de Chebba holds 3,000, and for most of the club's existence it was enough. That changed in 2019, when the club won Group B of the Ligue Professionnelle 2 and reached Ligue 1 for the first time since it was formed in 1960. Chebba made the most of it: eighth place in its debut top-flight season, 2019–20, and a run to the semi-finals of the Tunisian Cup before Espérance de Tunis ended it.

Relegation came after the 2020–21 season, but before that the Tunisian Football Federation suspended the club for a year in October 2020 and dropped it to the fourth division over administrative issues — a punishment the club's president, Taoufik Mkacher, called politically motivated. The club later won its case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and was reinstated to Ligue 1 for 2022–23, only to go back down again at the end of that season.
