Alaa Ghram left Sfax Railway Sport for Shakhtar Donetsk in a €400,000 deal. The academy that raised him traces back to May 1920, when the side began life as Université Club in Sfax, long before the railway name that stuck to it.

That familiarity came in three title-winning seasons — 1933–34, 1952–53 and 1967–68 — spread across a 33-year stay in the Tunisian top flight that ended after 1994–95. Since then the club has drifted between Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and Ligue 3, promotion and relegation taking turns. The closest they came to adding a cup to that record was 1968, when they lost the Tunisian Cup final to Club Africain in extra time.

Yellow and black remain the colours, worn at the Stade Ameur El-Gargouri, a ground that holds only 4,000. The youth sides have kept producing pedigree even as the first team struggled, with U21 titles in 1967 and 1989 and a U18 championship in 1986.

None of it carries the weight of the Sfax Derby.
