The Reggae Boyz go into World Cup qualifying still chasing a first Gold Cup title. Third place at the 2024 CONCACAF Nations League finals was the latest sign that the side competes at the top of its confederation without quite breaking through against Mexico or the United States, who beat them in the 2015 and 2017 finals.
Where Jamaica has no equal is the Caribbean Cup, won six times. The World Cup remains a single line on the record: the 1998 finals in France, where a 2–1 win over Japan stands as the team's only victory at that stage.
Independence Park in Kingston, known to supporters simply as "The Office," holds 35,000 and has been the team's ground since the federation's early years; the yellow shirt and black shorts have stayed the home identity throughout. Haiti remains the fixture with the longest history, going back to a 2–1 win in Port-au-Prince in March 1925, the team's first official international.
The name most attached to that history is Ian Goodison, capped 128 times between 2003 and 2016, more than anyone else who has worn the shirt. He played across an era that took in the 1998 World Cup and the early Caribbean Cup wins, a defender who outlasted several generations of teammates around him. The current squad carries a different kind of name recognition, with Leon Bailey at Aston Villa among the players taking the Reggae Boyz shirt into English football's top flight.
