Olympique Safi start the season back in the Botola 2, relegated at the end of 2025–26 only months after their best campaign in the club's history.

That continental run traced back to a single afternoon in Rabat. On 29 June 2025, Olympique Safi beat RS Berkane 6–5 on penalties after a 1–1 draw to win the Throne Cup, the first major trophy in the club's history since it was founded in Safi in 1921. The win carried the club into the Confederation Cup for the first time.

The nickname, Les Sardines, comes from the port itself — Safi has long been one of Morocco's main sardine-fishing centres, and the fish sits on the club badge. Promotion into the top flight first came in 2003–04, when the club won the Botola 2 title.

The one they did win, in 2025, came 104 years after the club's founding and only a year before a drop back to the second tier.
