Pachuca

Miners built the club that plays out of Pachuca de Soto, a silver-mining town in the state of Hidalgo, and the nickname it still carries, Los Tuzos, points back to that trade rather than to the game. The club dates itself to 1 November 1892, when it took the field as Pachuca Football Club, and confirmed the count by marking its 131st year in 2023 — arithmetic that a separate account, placing the founding in 1901 under a different name, does not support.

Colours changed once. Black and white carried the shirt through the club's early decades, into the 1920s; blue and white has been the kit since the 1960s, with black and orange kept as a secondary combination.

Pachuca has taken the Liga MX title seven times — 1999, 2001, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2016 and 2022. Its six CONCACAF Champions Cup and Champions League titles, won between 2002 and 2024, are more than any other club on the continent has managed. In 2006 it became the only Mexican side to win a CONMEBOL trophy, the Copa Sudamericana, and the following year added the short-lived SuperLiga, contested against MLS opposition.

Home matches are played at Estadio Hidalgo, which holds 25,922. The Copa Sudamericana remains the club's only CONMEBOL title — the Copa Libertadores, the continent's principal prize, is one Pachuca has never lifted.
