Tábor's football club has two hometowns woven into its history: the South Bohemian town of Tábor itself, and neighbouring Sezimovo Ústí. A team called JPT Sezimovo Ústí was formed there in 1926 and changed name several times over the following decades — through AC Stadion Sezimovo Ústí, SK MAS Sezimovo Ústí and eventually Spartak MAS Sezimovo Ústí.
FK Tábor's best years came during the Second World War, when it won the Perleťový Cup in 1943 and 1944.
The merged club has spent most of its existence in Czech football's second tier, interrupted by one drop to the third-tier ČFL, which it won in the 2019/20 season to return straight back up. Since then it has twice reached the promotion play-off for the top flight — finishing third in 2023/24, when Dynamo České Budějovice ended the run, and second in 2025/26.
Home matches are played at the Stadion v Kvapilově ulici, a ground on Kvapilova street in Tábor, in the club's blue and white.
