Promotion has come only once for US Tataouine, and it took two seasons to earn: the Ligue III (South) title in 2015, followed a year later by the Ligue 2 Group 1 crown, which sent the club into Ligue 1 for the first time in its history in 2016.

The club is younger than that run suggests. It was formed in 1996, when Tataouine Sportive, dating to 1947, merged with Jeunesse Sportive Rogba, founded in 1976. Red and blue, chosen at the merger, have stayed on the shirt since. Further south, the closest thing to a rivalry runs against AS Soliman, a fixture Tunisian media have taken to calling the Derby du Sud-Est.

Home games are played at the Stade Nejib Khattab , which holds 5,000. The Desert Lions , as the club is known, dropped back out of Ligue 1 at the end of the 2024–25 season and now face the task that has defined them twice before: winning their way back up through Ligue 2.
