About

The Gautam Buddha Cup is a domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament held in Nepal. Founded in 2020, the competition is organized by the Bagmati Province Cricket Association (BPCA) with technical assistance from the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

The 2020 edition featured three regional teams named after major rivers in Bagmati Province: Bagmati, Narayani, and Rapti. The format consisted of a round-robin league stage followed by a single-match final. Team Rapti won the inaugural and only recorded edition, defeating Team Narayani in the final.

The tournament is not part of the official senior domestic pyramid, which includes the National T20 Championship, Prime Minister Cup, and Jay Trophy. Instead, it serves as a developmental or preparatory event. It is often used to provide match practice for national players and to promote the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Chitwan.

No subsequent editions were held between 2021 and 2025, indicating it was a one-off or irregular event rather than an annual competition. The tournament is distinct from international events despite its name and venue, involving only Nepalese domestic teams.
