The bilateral T20I series between the women’s teams of Sri Lanka and India functions as a focused fixture within the international cricket calendar, organized jointly by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). It operates outside the structure of multi-nation championships, serving instead as a dedicated window for player development and the accumulation of ICC ranking points.
The format comprises a fixed sequence of matches played consecutively without groups or play-offs. The most recent installment in December 2025 consisted of five encounters held across Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram. India Women secured a clean sweep in that series, winning all five matches. This result extends their dominance in the rivalry, where they lead the head-to-head record significantly.
The two sides first met in a T20I in January 2014. Since that inaugural meeting, the series has provided a platform for individual milestones, including Smriti Mandhana’s highest individual score in the contest. India Women also set a team record for the highest total during the December 2025 series. Because the contest involves only two teams, it allows for tactical preparation that differs from broader regional tournaments. The fixture offers the host board a mechanism for revenue generation while providing Sri Lanka with essential competitive exposure against a stronger opponent. The series remains a staple of the bilateral calendar, prioritizing match practice over the pursuit of a championship title.
