Cristian Nicolás Medina

Cristian Medina came up through Boca Juniors' academy after joining as a child from El Fortín in Moreno, working his way through the club's under-17, under-20 and reserve sides before making his senior debut in February 2021. He collected a Copa Argentina, two editions of the Copa de la Liga Profesional, a Supercopa Argentina and the Primera División title along the way.

His time at Boca was not without setbacks. In April 2024 he was sent off against Godoy Cruz and missed the following Superclásico as a result, and the following month he suffered a serious rib injury in a match against Fortaleza that required hospital treatment.

Medina's move away from Boca in 2025 was unusual in its financing: an investment group led by the American businessman Foster Gillett paid a release clause reported at fifteen million dollars to take him to Estudiantes de La Plata, with Estudiantes itself receiving no direct transfer fee, only compensation for the interruption to his contract. He won the Clausura and the Trofeo de Campeones in his first year there.

In February 2026 the same investment group terminated his contract, and Medina joined Botafogo as a free agent, with the Brazilian club paying seven million dollars for his economic rights, a structure that allowed the move to go through despite Botafogo's transfer ban. He signed through December 2029.
