Holywell

Bartons North Wales Stadium holds 2,000 on Halkyn Road. Holywell Town have played there through spells in the Welsh Alliance and the Wrexham Area leagues.

The club dates to 25 September 1880, formed at a meeting in the King's Head Hotel in the town. Seven weeks later, on 27 November 1880, it played Flint Town United for the first time — a fixture still known locally as the Old Flintshire Classico and one of the oldest rivalries in Welsh football.

Silverware came in clusters. The 2014/15 season produced a treble: the Welsh Alliance League Division 1 title, the FAW Trophy after a 4-2 win over Penrhyndeudraeth, and the Mawddach Challenge Cup, won 3-2 after extra time against Llanrug United. A season earlier, in 2013/14, Holywell had already reached a Welsh Cup semi-final for the first time as a third-tier side, losing 3-1 to Aberystwyth Town.

Steve Thomas scored more than 100 goals in around 300 appearances through the 2010s before leaving for Llandudno in 2018. Johnny Haseldin's long spell in charge of the club is remembered in similar terms.

The most recent title arrived on 24 April 2024, a 4-0 win over Llanidloes Town that secured the Cymru North championship and promotion to the Cymru Premier. It followed a 2022/23 campaign in which the club won 25 league matches in a row yet still finished second.
