Krasnaya Armiya lines up in the Junior Hockey League each season. The 2021/22 run ended in the Kharlamov Cup final, a loss to SKA-1946, a reminder that reaching Moscow's junior showcase and winning it are two different things for this side.

The team grew out of CSKA-2, CSKA Moscow's old farm side, when the MHL launched in 2009. Its name came later than its existence: veterans and players voted it into being on 3 July 2009.

That first Kharlamov Cup, in 2010/11, was won with a 4–0 final defeat of Stalnye Lisy, and it produced the tournament's own storyline in Nikita Gusev, who took the playoff MVP and top scorer honours that spring. The second title, in 2016/17, was a 4–2 final win over Reaktor. Andrei Kuzmenko passed through the squad too, stepping onto the ice for the club at sixteen.

Games against MHK Spartak and MHK Dynamo carry the label Moscow Derby.
