Oława returned to the I Liga for the 2024/2025 season.

The handball section runs under the multi-sport club MGKS Moto-Jelcz Oława, formed on 13 March 1961 when the factory team Moto Jelcz, tied to the Jelczańskie Zakłady Samochodowe works, merged with KS Olavia. The team still plays in black, white and green, and is known simply as MJO. Home games are played in Gać, a village in the Oława municipality, at a hall named after Włodzimierz Lubański.

Krzysztof Górniak, capped ten times for Poland and part of the squad at the 2003 World Championship, spent a single season at the club, in 2011/2012. More typical of Oława's role in Polish handball is Adrian Burtan, a right wing who came through the club over eight years before moving on to MKS Nielba Wągrowiec. That work shows at youth level: the junior boys took bronze at the 2025 Polish Championships after losing their semi-final to Górnik Zabrze, and the younger juniors won bronze in 2023.
