Deportivo Maipú and Gimnasia Jujuy drew 1:1 in the Regular Season of the First National Division on Sunday evening. The result leaves Maipú in ninth place with 30 points and Gimnasia third with 53. We had tipped a home win at 47 per cent, but the match took another turn — and here's the thing, they equalised just after the break when the visitors looked most vulnerable.
T. Silva gave Maipú the lead in the forty-sixth minute, a goal that felt earned after the opening half. Then came the twist: in the fifty-seventh minute, F. Paradela pulled level from close range. By then, the visitors had already switched D. Lopez for someone else at the fifty-sixth minute, a small adjustment that perhaps changed the rhythm. Maipú held on until the end, though they let the tie slip when the ball found Paradela.
The statistics tell a story of imbalance. Gimnasia dominated possession at 56 per cent and recorded 132 attacks against Maipú's 116. Yet Maipú registered seven shots on target to their opponents' three. Many shots with one goal means chances went begging. The hosts kept the visitors in it for long stretches, then lost control at the worst possible moment.

Gimnasia's recent form has been steadier — two wins and a draw in their last three. The clean-sheet run came to an end for both sides, and neither manager will be satisfied with one point.
