And here's the thing — the opening goal arrived almost in the same breath as the second. G. Zinyar opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, and Rebel were already on the back foot when the equaliser bounced in off the post a minute later. Not that either side got much beyond that phase of play.
Poltava pulled away after the break. Zinyar struck again in the 60th minute, and Rebel's efforts to respond were scattered at best. The fourth goal followed swiftly, and the match was effectively over before the final whistle.
What matters now is the table. Poltava sit first with seven points from three games — two wins, one draw, no losses. Rebel remain seventh on three points, with one victory and two defeats so far. That four-point gap is already telling.
To be fair, the visitors had shown signs of life earlier in the season. A 3:2 win over Atlet on August 3rd suggested they could compete, but the loss to Karbon 5:3 the following weekend and the defeat to Poltava have left them chasing.
