Alexandro Bernabei

In 2024, on loan from Celtic, Alexandro Bernabei was named the best left-back in the Brazilian championship. The same season brought a place in the Brasileirão team of the year and a Bola de Prata from the magazine Placar — recognition that arrived less than a year after he had left Glasgow.

The route there started at Lanús, where he made his debut on 19 October 2019. He held down a place in the first team, playing 88 matches and scoring five goals, without adding a trophy.

In June 2022 Celtic paid Lanús £3.75m for him. The Scottish spell never took hold: 28 appearances and a single goal in a season and a half, and by March 2024 he was on his way to Brazil.

The loan at Internacional ran to December 2024 — 25 matches, three goals and five assists, and the individual awards that followed. Internacional then made the deal permanent on 9 January 2025, signing him until December 2028. He won the Campeonato Gaúcho with the club in 2025 and was picked in the state championship's team of the tournament. By May 2026 he had 109 appearances, 14 goals and 14 assists for Internacional.

At international level he has played for Argentina's youth sides: two matches for the under-23s, and the 2018 South American Games with the under-19s. He has said he wants a place in the senior national team.
