Barış Fahri Atik

Frankenthal born Barış Atik came through the youth ranks at VT Frankenthal and Waldhof Mannheim before Hoffenheim signed him in 2014. He won the German U19 championship and the A-Junioren-Bundesliga Süd/Südwest with the club that year, and went on to make 74 appearances and score 18 goals for Hoffenheim's second team. His path to the first team was slow: three Bundesliga appearances between 2016 and 2018, interrupted by loans to Sturm Graz, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Darmstadt 98.

He came into his own at Dynamo Dresden, where he made 49 appearances and scored six goals over two seasons. One match from that spell stands out: three goals against SC Paderborn 07 in the 2018/19 season, a performance that earned him the Kicker Player of the Matchday award.

In January 2021, 1. FC Magdeburg paid €700,000 for Atik. He has since made more than 168 appearances for Magdeburg and scored over 51 goals, and was a key attacking presence when they won the 3. Liga title in the 2021/2022 season and were promoted to the 2. Bundesliga. He was named 3. Liga Player of the Season that year, and also won the Sachsen-Anhalt-Pokal with Magdeburg in 2022.

Atik represented Turkey at youth level, earning two caps and a goal for the U18 side and one cap for the U19s, both in 2013. Turkish media reported interest from national team coach Stefan Kuntz in 2023, though he has not featured for the senior side. By 2023, his career record stood at 327 appearances, 89 goals and 86 assists.
