About the player
César Pinares grew up in Colo-Colo's youth ranks before the move that shaped his early career: a switch to Chievo Verona in Italy, followed by a loan spell at Triestina. He then returned to Chilean and South American football, taking in San Luis, Santiago Morning and Deportes Iquique, with a loan at Greece's Olympiacos Volos along the way.
After a brief move to the United Arab Emirates with Al-Sharjah, Pinares joined Universidad Catolica, where he won the Chilean championship in both 2019 and 2020 as well as the Super Cup. In November 2020, 80 percent of his rights were sold to Brazilian side Gremio for 1.5 million US dollars, with Colo-Colo receiving a solidarity payment of around 45,000 dollars under FIFA's mechanism. He won the Campeonato Gaucho with Gremio in 2021.
A spell in Turkey with Altay followed before Pinares returned to Universidad Catolica in 2022, where he stayed for two more seasons and made 56 appearances. In July 2026 he moved on again, joining Audax Italiano.
He also represented Chile's under-20 side in 2011.
