About the player
That year took him further afield than most of his countrymen go: a move to Ukraine's Dnipro-1. The timing put him in a league playing under wartime conditions, and he stayed long enough to help the club finish as runners-up in the Ukrainian Premier League in the 2022/23 season, a silver medal in a competition disrupted well beyond the pitch.
In September 2023 Blanco moved to Mexico, joining Club Tijuana on a season-long loan with an option to buy. He settled into the Xolos side quickly, making 25 appearances and scoring twice across his first season in Liga MX before his contract situation with the club evolved beyond the loan terms.
His one senior international appearance for Argentina came on 22 March 2019, when Lionel Scaloni picked him for a friendly against Venezuela at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid. Argentina lost 3-1, and the cap has remained his only one at that level.
Blanco plays as a midfielder, comfortable off the right or through the centre, and operates off his right foot.
