Bahia paid 500,000 reais to borrow a centre-back who had played just 11 matches for Fluminense. The loan ran in 2023 with a purchase option attached, and in 2024 the club triggered it — Fluminense holds 70% of David Duarte's economic rights, the player himself the remaining 30%, with bonuses tied to sporting targets. The fee was not disclosed.

The move ended a stop-start spell in Rio and returned him to regular football. By April 2026 he had made 45 Série A appearances for Bahia and scored five goals. His first trophy at the club came early: the 2023 Campeonato Baiano, a competition in which he played twice.

The bulk of his career, though, belongs to Goiás. He came through the academy there and stayed with the senior side from 2015 to 2021 — 189 official matches, 10 goals, and four consecutive Campeonato Goiano titles between 2015 and 2018. It is the longest attachment of his career by some distance.

Fluminense finally signed him in 2022 on a free transfer. The move did not deliver playing time: 11 appearances in total, and roughly four in the league. He won the Campeonato Carioca and the Taça Guanabara that year.

Born in Rio Grande, in Rio Grande do Sul, he is right-footed. Brazil has never called him up — not the senior side, and not at youth level either.
