Diego Novoa

When Millonarios won the Superliga de Colombia in January 2024, Diego Novoa collected a champion's medal without playing a minute in the final against Junior on 25 January. He stayed on the bench that day, becoming the first goalkeeper in the club's history to receive the trophy without featuring in the deciding match.

His path to that moment started in Bogotá, where he began at the Academia Compensar as a boy before joining La Equidad's academy in 1998, aged eight, and working his way up through the youth ranks. He made his professional debut for the club on 8 February 2009 and stayed for fifteen seasons, playing 270 matches across all competitions — the second-highest total in the club's history. He also holds La Equidad's record for clean sheets, with 97. He was part of the squad when the club won the Primera B title in 2006 and the Copa Colombia in 2008, though he did not play in either final.

Novoa left La Equidad for América de Cali at the start of 2021 and made 68 appearances there before signing for Millonarios in December 2023, with the move taking effect the following month. His contract at Millonarios runs until June 2026.

At international level his record is thin. He was named in Colombia's preliminary squad for the 2019 Copa América but did not make the final list, and he was called up for a friendly against Honduras in January 2022 without playing. On the same day he did appear for Colombia's secondary "Mayores B" side in a match against Real Cartagena.
