About the player
In July 2023 Eirik Hestad signed for Molde FK on a free transfer. He joined the club's U19 setup in July 2011 and stepped up to the senior squad the following January.
Hestad made his senior debut in 2012 and stayed until December 2021, with spells for Molde 2 in the 2. divisjon along the way. He collected Eliteserien titles in 2014 and 2019 and Norwegian Cup medals in 2013 and 2014. His most productive individual season came in 2019, when he finished as the top assist provider in the Eliteserien with ten.
Cyprus followed. With his Molde contract expired, Hestad joined Pafos FC on a free transfer in January 2022 and played there until June 2023.
Back at Molde, he was part of the squad that won the 2023 Norwegian Cup, beating Bodø/Glimt 1–0 in the final through Fredrik Gulbrandsen's goal. He now wears the number 5 shirt.
At international level Hestad has represented Norway at U17, U18, U19 and U21, but has yet to make a senior appearance. The setbacks have been the routine kind, thigh strains among them.
