About the player
Emilio Martínez González came through the youth system on the coast, moving from Lobos BUAP to Universidad del Golfo before Puebla picked him up in 2020. He made his professional debut for Puebla against Cruz Azul on 25 September 2021, and went on to make 22 appearances for the club as a right-back.
In the summer of 2023 he signed for Necaxa on a contract running to June 2027. He was handed his debut inside days, in a Leagues Cup tie against Dallas that Necaxa won 3-0. He has since become a regular fixture at the back for the club, passing 35 appearances and scoring once.
He has not yet been called up to Mexico's senior national team.
