About the player
Enzo Barrenechea's career has moved through reserve-team football and loan spells at three of Europe's bigger clubs.
He began at the Newell's Old Boys academy in Argentina but did not break into the first team there. In 2019 he moved to Switzerland's Sion, initially for the reserve side, before Juventus signed him in the winter of 2020. Barrenechea spent two seasons with the club's Under-23 side, known first as Juventus U23 and later as Juventus Next Gen, making 37 appearances and scoring five goals in Serie C. His involvement with Juventus's own first team stayed limited to three Serie A appearances and two in the Champions League, in 2022–23.
A loan to Frosinone in Serie A followed for 2023–24, where he made 36 appearances in all competitions and scored once, in the Coppa Italia. He went straight out on loan to Valencia, where he made 30 La Liga appearances and scored once during 2024–25.
Barrenechea received his first call-up to Argentina's senior squad in November 2024, though he is yet to win a cap.
