About the player
Felix Higl was born in Cologne and moved through the youth ranks at Eintracht Frankfurt, SC Freiburg, Hoffenheim, Freiburger FC and Heidenheim.
That second spell in Ulm was the most productive of his career. He won the Württemberg Cup with the club and later helped Ulm to the 3. Liga title, a promotion-season medal that came after years of work in the lower half of German football's pyramid. He had already picked up a regional cup winner's medal with Osnabrück in Lower Saxony, giving him silverware at more than one stop along the way.
Higl left Ulm for SpVgg Greuther Fürth, before a move to Preußen Münster took him to a new club again. The transfer fee was in the five figures.
He is the son of Alfons Higl, who played in the Bundesliga, though Felix has built his own path through the third and fourth tiers. A left-footed forward standing 194cm, he has not been capped by Germany at senior level.
