Hugo

Hugo's route to Corinthians ran through the lower tiers of Brazilian football, well away from the country's usual talent pipelines. He came up through CRB, with two separate spells at the club either side of stints at ASA, Jaciobá and, on loan, ABC. It was a career built on repeated returns rather than a straight climb, and it took him until his mid-twenties, via three years at Goiás, to reach a club of Corinthians' size.

He joined as a free agent in January 2024 and was handed his debut almost immediately, starting in a 1-0 win over Guarani on 21 January that year. For a defender who had spent the previous seasons outside Brazil's top flight, an instant place in the side marked a sharp change in circumstances.

At Corinthians he wears the number 46, a squad number that reflects his standing as a newer addition to the group rather than an established name. He plays as a left-footed defender, a profile that has some scarcity value on Brazilian backlines.
