Ignacio Agustín Rodríguez arrived at Racing Club in January 2025, a move that came with a buy option attached, giving the club the chance to acquire a further stake in the player down the line. The defender had spent the previous stretch of his career at Banfield, where he made his first-team debut in April 2021 and went on to make close to eighty appearances, an unusually productive run in front of goal for a defender that saw him get on the scoresheet five times.

Rodríguez came through the youth ranks at Banfield after starting out at Deportivo Glew, part of the football culture of Lomas de Zamora, where he was born. He stayed with Banfield long enough to establish himself as a regular before the switch to Racing, arriving at his new club at the age of 22.

At Racing, Rodríguez wears the number 19 shirt as part of a defensive unit still shaping itself around him.
