About the player
Javier Ezequiel Ruiz made his first-team debut for Independiente on 24 September 2023, against Instituto, a game that finished goalless. He had come up through the club's academy.
Independiente sent him out on loan to Barracas Central for the 2024–2025 campaign: 29 appearances, three goals and six assists . He returned to the club on 31 December 2025 with that spell behind him.
The return proved brief. On 5 February 2026, Necaxa paid €1.4 million for 60 per cent of his rights, tying him to the Mexican club on a contract running to the end of 2030.
He has not yet won a trophy with any of his clubs, nor picked up an individual award, and a call-up to the Argentina national team has so far eluded him.
